Who Wants a Clean Car with Grey Tires?
A clean, shiny car with dull, ashy- grey tires is not a clean car at all!
Who wants a clean car with grey tires? Nobody that I know. Clean, glossy black tires that glisten in the sunlight looks great contrasting from a polished vehicle. As many auto detailers and car enthusiasts know, finding the right tire shine that actually works is a challenge.
I have used, tested and produced many kinds of tire shine products. These tire shine products ranged from pure silicone to a silicone-free version to a water-based and solvent-based tire shines. All had their up’s and down’s and you need to find the one that fits your style and needs. My goal here is to explain the different kinds and why they would appeal to you.
The first one we can explore is the silicone-free style of tire shine. I have tested 2-3 kinds and they did not work at all. I do not know why somebody would produce a product that did not work. The tire never became shiny and it remained grey and dull.
Solvent-based tire shines are filled with sticky, gooey silicone and solvents that make any tire or rubber trim look very clean, black and glossy. Many “old school” detailers still use this kind of product today. It looks great, but the downside is what happens afterwards. The solvent and silicone does not dry and as soon as you drive the car away, the tire shine slings up and down the side of the car. This “starry, starry night” look is not what the detail company customer is looking for after paying big bucks for his detail. Soon after this slinging occurs, dirt will begin to stick to the silicone that is splattered along the side of the car. This will have glossy/ brown/ tan spots up and down the car. You can try to mop up or wipe off the excess tire shine but that may cause it to look dull afterwards. In my opinion, don’t use this kind of tire shine. It is not Eco-safe and causes much more heartache than it is worth.
I recommend a water-based/ silicone style of tire shine that has no VOC’s and is non hazardous. This kind of product sprays evenly and sticks to the sidewall well. The water evaporates quickly, leaving behind an evenly coated, medium gloss tire that looks great and that will not sling along the side of the car. Since it is water-based, it is easily cleaned up with a clean microfiber towel.
Pearl Global Ltd and Pearl Eco-Car Care produces a super high quality water-based tyre shine that creates a super high shine. I highly recommend using the Pearl Tyre Shine before cleaning your car with the Pearl Professional “waterless car wash” products. I say you should clean your tires before you clean the car, in case the tyre shine sprays onto the paint or glass, you can easily clean it off as you clean the car.
Tip of the day: Spray the Pearl Eco Tyre Shine onto the tires in a sweeping motion and wipe off any excess product on the rims or paint using a towel. Let the Pearl Eco Tyre Shine product dry 10-20 minutes for best results.
Lastly, since the Eco Tyre Shine product is a “water-based” product, it will wash off during a rain storm. Outside of inclement weather, the shine and durability of the Pearl Eco Tyre Shine is very very good. It can last for weeks.
There are other water-based / silicone tire shine products on the market, and I hope you find one that works best for you. Nobody should clean a car and drive around with dull, grey tires. It is just wrong. Thanks for reading this. Please stop by the Pearl Eco Car Care Facebook site and “LIKE” the page. Thanks
